Literary Magazines

1. CAESURA - "Caesura is a modest project to collect the scattered fragments of art and criticism working to escape the aimlessness that plagues the present. What is necessary is a break, a pause, and some room to breathe. We are looking to publish visual art, poetry, prose, and music as well as fundamental criticism and commentary from artists and writers that recognize the task before us and the need for something new."

3. New England Review (NER) - "NER was founded by poets Sydney Lea and Jay Parini in New Hampshire in 1978. In the fall of 1982 the magazine established an affiliation with the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and adopted the name NER/BLQ (New England Review/Bread Loaf Quarterly). In 1987, the magazine came under full sponsorship of Middlebury College, and in 1990 returned to its original name, New England Review."
4. Numéro Cinq - “A reading, discussion and resource site for a small group of Douglas Glover‘s friends and writing students. It morphed into something monstrous, tenticulate, multiform and quite possibly (gasp) alive!"
5. One Story - "ONE STORY publishes one great short story at a time." 
6. The Masters Review - "The Masters Review is an online and in print publication celebrating new and emerging writers. We are on the lookout for the best new talent with hopes of publishing stories from writers who will continue to produce great work. We offer critical essays, book reviews by debut authors, contest deadlines, submissions info, and interviews with established authors, all with the hopes of bridging the gap between new and established writers."
7. The Paris Review - "Founded in Paris by Harold L. Humes, Peter Matthiessen, and George Plimpton in 1953.
8. Ploughshares - "Ploughshares has published quality literature since 1971. Our award-winning literary journal is published four times a year; our lively literary blog publishes new writing daily. Since 1989, we have been based at Emerson College in downtown Boston."
9. Rattle - "Rattle is a publication of the Rattle Foundation, an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the practice of poetry, and is not affiliated with any other organization."
10. Virginia Quarterly Review - "It is a magazine distinguished not only by the caliber of the best veteran practitioners, but by the role it has played in launching the careers of many writers and artists of note. VQR hews to one simple standard in its selection of contributors: excellence...We read unsolicited submissions July 14 - 27, 2024, through our Submittable portal."
11. Wayfare - "Wayfare seeks to be a companion and guide on the journey of faith. We publish a range of original writing: essays, interviews, dispatches, profiles, poetry, miracles, sermons, and works of book, film, and art criticism...Our aim is to cultivate within individuals and communities the more abundant life that is found in Christ through writing that is leavened with faith, brightened by hope, and deepened through charity.
